Spring A/C Preventative Maintenance Tasks

A husband and wife are speaking outside with a Bryant technician about their air conditioner.

Spring is a great time to complete preventative maintenance tasks to ensure your air conditioning functions well in the warm months ahead. Any complex machine, whether it be your car or your HVAC system, requires regular maintenance. When you stick to a maintenance routine for your air conditioning it can:

  • Prolong the life of your A/C
  • Increase system efficiency
  • Maintain warranty coverage

Now that you know the benefits of regular maintenance, here are some of the tasks we recommend:

1. Schedule a Preventative Maintenance Visit

At Henry Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing, we offer a preventative maintenance service to tackle tasks that should be left to HVAC professionals. When we service your A/C, we complete tasks such as:

  • Checking refrigerant levels
  • Inspecting refrigerant lines for leaks
  • Cleaning coils and the condensate drain
  • Checking electrical connections
  • Inspecting moving parts of the unit like the blower motor and lubricating if needed

Preventative Maintenance Gold Ribbon Plan

We offer a Gold Ribbon Plan that helps you stay on track with your maintenance while saving on the cost of the service. This two year plan starts at $189 and includes:

  • 1 Cooling & 1 Heating maintenance visit each year
  • No overtime rates on diagnostic charge
  • Same day response on all emergency calls
  • 15% off all repairs
  • $50 off additional systems*
  • $200 off a replacement furnace or air handler
  • $200 off a replacement air conditioner or heat pump

*Must be a Gold Ribbon Plan for the same system type at the same location.

2. Clean the Area Around Your Air Conditioner

During the fall and winter, it’s common for debris like grass, leaves, and twigs to accumulate around your outdoor air conditioning unit. Head outside and clear the area, removing any buildup that could be obstructing airflow which causes a reduction in efficiency. Removing debris also protects your unit from potential damage and your home from poor air quality.

3. Rinse Your Air Conditioner

After you clear out the debris from around your A/C unit, give it a rinse. Simply take your garden hose and gently rinse off the cooling fins and grill. Do not use high pressure as this could damage your unit.

4. Replace Your Air Filter

Have you changed your air filter recently? If not, tackle the task today! It only takes a few seconds, but it’s an important part of A/C maintenance. Clogged filters restrict your airflow causing a reduction in efficiency. This can lead to:

  • Increased energy costs
  • Poor air quality
  • Damage to your system
