Why is my air conditioner running but not cooling?

If your air conditioner is running but not cooling, there could be several possible causes. Some of the most common include a dirty air filter, low refrigerant levels, a frozen evaporator coil, thermostat issues, or problems with the outdoor unit.

Before calling for service, try these quick checks:

  • Make sure the thermostat is set to “cool” and the temperature is set lower than the current room temperature.
  • Replace or clean a dirty air filter to improve airflow.
  • Check that the outdoor unit is free from debris, grass, or anything causing blocked airflow.
  • Look for ice buildup on indoor or outdoor components, which may indicate airflow or refrigerant issues.
  • Make sure there are no pieces of furniture or drapes blocking vents

If the system still isn’t cooling properly, professional diagnosis and repair may be needed to prevent further damage to the system. Contact our team to set up an appointment.
